Intern Induction
Please discuss the following checklist with the intern to assist them in settling in smoothly and to ensure that the internship is a beneficial experience;
- General introduction to the company
- Complete the ‘Training Plan‘
- Introduce the intern to all supervisors and team members
- Prepare company security cards / passes if necessary
- Explain the computer log in system
- Discuss compensation offered e.g. public transport, lunch (if relevant)
- Internship hours / days / upcoming public holidays
- Dress code
- Amenities of the office e.g. lunch room, toilets, etc.
- Fire exit / safety regulations
- Daily transport method i.e. nearest train station / bus stop
- Location of local cafes
- Exchange contact details
- Procedure to call in sick
- Inappropriate internet use during office hours i.e. Facebook, YouTube, etc.
- Confidentiality within the company
- Company rules & regulations
- Company’s expectations of the intern e.g. punctuality
- Intern’s training expectations of the internship / company
- Intern’s University requirements of the internship (if applicable)
- Agreed timetable for the intern’s University assignment (if applicable)
- Weekly / fortnightly educational goals throughout the duration of the placement
- Expected training offered throughout the internship
- Procedure to monitor progress and provide regular feedback for both the intern and the company
