This unique training initiative is specifically designed to not only enhance industry skills and experience, grow your industry network, but to launch the careers of its participants.
This program is ideal for those with a technical understanding and/or education in the following areas of Engineering:

Interns may choose between multiple teams within engineering:
First technical assessment of a project
Technology evaluation
Economy of a solar project (ROI, Costs, etc.)
Focus on winning bids and tenders
Energy output simulations
Initial site inspections to gather all information required for design
Structural calculations
Detailed design with electrical calculations
AutoCAD skills learned
Complex grid connection models
Learning what really happens on site during installation
Solving complex technical issues
Electrical calculations
Involvement with installers
• Induction and objectives of the internship (first day)
• Presentation with your internship mentor
• Introduction to the company and organisational chart
• Induction to CAD and engineering drawings
• To access and explore the internal and online corporate trainings
• Fundamentals of photovoltaics and grid connection solar PV systems
• Introduction to design, engineering and development of solar projects
• Initial collaboration in the design and engineering of solar projects
• Training and direct supervision by company senior engineers
• Potential participation in the external training programs for the engineering department
• Involvement in activities of company culture team
• Basic Program – Assessment
• Basic concepts of electrical power and calculations in solar PV projects
• How to prepare engineering drawings effectively with Autocad
• Understanding software used in solar and electrical engineering (Autocad, Google Sketch Up, CableCalc, internal software, PVSyst)
• Understanding of company processes and internal tools (Tasks control, project plan, logistics)
• Involvement in the design of solar projects
• Preparation of sales designs
• How to configure a solar inverter and translate that to a real project
• Initial design of a solar project supervised by one senior engineer
• Site visit to a solar installation
• Potential participation in the external training programs for the engineering department
• Optional: 3D Simulations and videos using Google Sketch Up and other 3D software
• Intermediate Program – Assessment
(Maximum 4 places available at any given time)

• Training for fundamental electrical calculations and preparation of electrical schematics
• Training for fundamental structural checking and solar mount design
• Advance design of a solar project supervised by one senior engineer
• Initiation to energy analysis (building consumption and solar generation)
• How to select the best product for a solar project
• How to prepare and deliver documentation and specifications to project team and subcontractors
• Site visit to a solar installation under construction
• Potential participation in the external training programs for the engineering department
• Optional: Preparation of a concept research (this can be selected by student and/or University)
• Academic Program – Assessment
(Maximum 4 places available at any given time)

Everything included in the Academic Program plus:
• Understanding of Australian standards related to electricity, construction and solar
• Design of a solar project supervised by one senior engineer
• Producing technical drawings and system information to submit complicated grid connect applications to utilities around Australia
• Preparation and supervision of site inspections both structural and electrical
• Design and development of a solar system from beginning (sales) to end (commissioning)
• Advance training for electrical calculations
• Advance training for structural calculations and solar mount design
• Advance training in protection solutions (DC and AC switchgear, grid) for solar systems
• Detail energy analysis (building consumption and solar generation)
• Understand how to prepare an analysis of an electrical networks and the impact of solar
• Support to logistics department with orders and deliveries
• Support to accounting department and project managers with invoice administration
• How to create a list of materials for a solar project including interaction with logistics department
• Economy of a solar project (ROI, Rebates, Costs)
• Sun trackers advance training
• Training ground mount and large scale plants

The host company is one of Australia’s leading solar companies having installed systems for many high profile clients including some of the largest solar rooftop installations in Australia. The company is a multi award winner of the prestigious Clean Energy Council Award for design and installation.
The company’s supervising engineers are experienced in sharing their knowledge and expertise having successfully hosted interns since 2008, many of whom have gone on to excel in the industry.

• Certificate and/or reference will be provided upon successful completion of the program
• Personal liability insurance coverage is essential
• 8 week program is only available as a 5 day per week program
• The program is voluntary (unpaid) and is designed to benefit the intern
• Weekly travel costs to and from the company will be covered up to the value of $50AUD per week reimbursed upon presentation of receipt
• The program is a temporary learning experience, not employment. Successful completion of the program does not lead to employment with the host company
• The host company is conveniently located within 3km of Sydney CBD
